Outsource Technical is currently seeking a Chief Enterprise Architect for a client in the South Bay

-         We are at the very beginning stage of a massive enterprise architecture initiative that will involve 5 division technology operations spanning the U.S.

-         The initial focus for our CEA will be:

  • Global Suite Architecture (Institutionalizing next gen technology)
  • Microsoft Office component architecture
  • Platform strategy review (SaaS, Cloud Computing, S+S and mobile / un-tethered)
  • Security modeling
  • Technology / product standardization.

-         Our CEA will have 2 direct reports, both enterprise architects.  

Technology Focus:

-         We are a Microsoft-centric, SQL Server, Agile, SaaS environment first…..and an open source environment second. Since our product architecture is significantly Microsoft-centric, it is very important for our CEA to have experience architecting solutions under the .NET framework, SQL Server, Silverlight, Smartclient, etc.  While this is a Director level position, extensive hands-on Microsoft-centric experience will be crucial to success in this role.  With our forays into different markets, such as the corporate & consumer markets, additional non-Microsoft based technologies come into play (more open source, J2EE, Oracle, AJAX, etc). The perfect mix between Microsoft technology and non-MS should probably be 70/30 or 80/20 split.

-         SaaS definition:  Software as a service is a model of software deployment whereby a provider licenses an application to customers for use as a service on demand. SaaS software vendors (such as CyberShift or SalesForce.com) may host the application on their own web servers or upload the application to the consumer device, disabling it after use or after the on-demand contract expires. The on-demand function may be handled internally to share licenses within a firm or by a third-party application service provider (ASP) sharing licenses between firms.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

-         This is a Director level EA position, so the selected candidate must have strategic / division-level EA experience involving long term planning, building road maps, and acting as a highly credible catalyst for change at a multi-location divisional level.  They must also have recent solutions architecture and application architecture experience…..so they can’t be too strategic (as would a CTO or VP of Technology) and they can’t be too hands-on (as would a Solution Architect that hasn’t been involved at the enterprise level making strategic calls).    

-         We prefer to pull candidates from software products companies. Our CEA must understand the business processes of our customers (what they do and what they want from CCH). Our customers belong to certain market segments, and their market needs must be met and reflected in our software products and technology selection.

-         Microsoft-centric experience is extremely important, but we do not require Microsoft certification.

-         We are only interested in high level EA candidates where the focus has been external customer-facing software systems.
